Motorcycle & Industry

On February 25, KAWASAKI US released a 15-second teaser movie on various social networking sites. "Is Project H2 just a title, or is there more to the story? Let’s find out!

What is the Top Secret "H2 Project" to Ride in the Desert?

In the teaser movie that has been released, a warehouse-like building first appears, followed by the river mark of KAWASAKI Motors. Then, an object appears through the viewfinder that shows something riding at high speed through the desert. In the background, a high-pitched exhaust note echoes.

Then, "PROJECT H2 IS A TOP-SECRET" - disturbing text in a typewriter-style font that says this project is top secret information and viewers already know too much..., the "PROJECT H 2" logo and the Rivermark again. It is a short video, only 15 seconds long.

And then there is KAWASAKI Motors' Rivermark. Incidentally, the Ninja H2 was the first vehicle to revive the Rivermark.

What is the true identity of PROJECT H2? We look forward to further news from KAWASAKI.

In January, KAWASAKI also released a teaser movie titled "WE HEARD YOU," which drew attention to the anticipated appearance of a 2-stroke engine machine. However, the model suggested in the "Project H2" teaser movie is more likely to be a project related to the Ninja H2, given its distinctive exhaust sound and supercharger-like operation.

Is it Really the New Ninja H2? Or is it a Sooner 4-Wheel Off-Roader?

The Ninja H2, introduced in 2015, is a sports model that created a buzz with its name derived from the former "750SS (H2)" and its supercharger. 2018 saw the launch of the Ninja H2 SX, a fully equipped tourer for public road use, and as of 2025, the Ninja H2 SX SE, featuring electric suspension and the ARAS radar system, is currently in the lineup. As of 2025, the Ninja H2 SX SE, which features electric suspension and the ARAS radar system, is currently in the lineup. Although the standard Ninja H2 model is no longer sold in Japan, it continues to be sold in North America.

Both of the conventional Ninja H2 series are on-road sports and do not have the image of off-roading as suggested by "Project H2," or does this mean that such a variant model will be introduced?

The Ninja H2 debuted in 2015 and is a hyper sport developed by KAWASAKI Heavy Industries, Ltd.

Observing the silhouette of the body, it could also be related to the off-road 4-wheel models that KAWASAKI is also introducing in Japan. The voluptuous lime-green contours of the TERYX KRX 1000, which has been introduced in 2023, seem close to the Ninja H2, which would make sense since they are also in the same liter class. However, the TERYX KRX 1000 is powered by a 999cc parallel 2-cylinder engine, which is completely different from the H2's four-cylinder engine, and of course, it does not use a supercharger. It may be a new 4-wheel model based on this machine with the H2 engine.

The TERYX KRX 1000 is the flagship 4-wheel off-road vehicle sold in Japan, but the current model does not appear to have any H2-like elements.

And we cannot dismiss the possibility that this machine is related to the 2-stroke, 3-cylinder, original "H2", the 750SS. The new 2-stroke engine, which KAWASAKI has already patented for the summer of 2024, has been found to be equipped with a supercharger in order to meet the latest emission regulations. The possibility that the teaser movie, in which a supercharger-like sound can be heard, could be an indication of a new supercharger 2-stroke machine is not zero.

We will have to wait for further information from KAWASAKI US for more details on the very interesting "PROJECT H2," but with the motorcycle show coming up in Japan, it will not be long before its true identity is revealed. We look forward to further announcements.

The original H2 is the "Mach III" 750SS, and a recent teaser suggests a 2-stroke revival.

Even the 2015 concept

Even the 2015 concept "SC-02" had a style that should be called Sucher equipped Mach. We look forward to the possibility of this machine becoming a reality.
