[Webike Breaking News] YAMAHA Leads the Way: Introducing CN1, the Industry’s First Carbon Neutral Coating Line for Sustainable Manufacturing!

Motorcycle & Industry

YAMAHA Motor Co., Ltd. has introduced the CN1, the motorcycle industry's first carbon-neutral mass-production coating line, at its headquarters plant and has begun operations. The all-electrification of the painting process significantly reduces CO₂ emissions from the use of conventional fossil fuels and promotes low-carbon production sites. Furthermore, the introduction of new coating technology has made it possible to realize more attractive color designs. This initiative to both reduce environmental impact and improve product value is expected to become a new model for sustainable manufacturing in the motorcycle industry.

All-Electric Painting Process! Low Carbon and Design Innovation with the "CN1" Line

In the conventional coating process, fossil fuels were used in processes such as heating of paint, temperature and humidity control of coating booths, and baking and drying. However, the newly constructed "CN1" line has switched all of these processes to electric energy, making it all-electric.

This initiative is expected to reduce the environmental impact of the production site by electrifying the painting process, thereby reducing carbon emissions. Furthermore, the innovation of the painting process will enable new color expressions that could not be realized on conventional lines, and is expected to increase the attractive value of the products.

YAMAHA Motor aims to achieve carbon neutrality throughout its entire supply chain, including its business activities, by 2050 under the "YAMAHA Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050. The introduction of the "CN1" line is an important step toward that goal.
