Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. announced the release of the new LMW*2 "TRICITY 300 ABS" powered by a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder, 4-valve, 292cm3 "BLUE CORE*1" engine on September 30.
The TRICITY 300 ABS was developed based on the concept of "The Smartest Commuting Way". With LMW technology*3 that produces excellent stability and natural handling when turning, and the powerful and environmentally friendly BLUE CORE engine, it brings peace of mind and comfort to daily commuting and urban travel. In addition, the "Standing Assist" system, which assists the vehicle to stand on its own feet, has been adopted for the first time in a production model.

Main Features
(1) "LMW Ackermann Geometry" steering mechanism to support a comfortable ride
The "LMW Ackermann Geometry" that has been proven in the large sports-type LMW model "NIKEN" has been newly designed and adopted for this model. The balance between the front suspension and the rear suspension has been optimized to provide a natural handling and ground contact feel, resulting in a comfortable and high-quality ride.
(2) "Standing Assist" for convenience when stopping or pushing and walking
With the operation of a switch, the electric caliper locks the disc installed on the arm at the top of the LMW mechanism, assisting the vehicle to stand on its own. While assisting, the suspension remains extended and retracted, making it easy to maneuver the vehicle over small bumps when walking or pushing.
(3) "BLUE CORE" engine designed for urban use
Based on the "BLUE CORE" engine of the XMAX300 sports scooter for the European market, the specifications were optimized to achieve a pleasant acceleration feeling and a comfortable ride. The fuel injection system has a three-dimensional map that has been optimally set to match the engine. The amount of fuel injected and ignition timing are optimally controlled to improve fuel economy and torque characteristics.
(4) New frame for both stability and a supple ride
A newly designed frame combining thin pipes and plates optimizes the strength and rigidity balance. The joint between the steering pipe and the frame is box-shaped to ensure high rigidity. The engine is mounted to the frame using a linkage system, which optimizes the mounting position and reduces the amount of vibration transmitted to the rider during riding, resulting in a stable and supple ride.
(5) Evolution of the brand icon with the "Y" motif
"Y" is the motif of the brand icon of the TRICITY series, and the air management function has been added. In addition, the volume that incorporates the LMW mechanism and standing assist has been utilized to express a three-dimensional effect suitable for the top model of the TRICITY series.
6) Active and smart styling
The design concept is "My Right Arm" and the aim was to create a mobility vehicle that is like a reliable business partner. Based on a low-saturated body color that harmonizes with high-quality fashion styles, accent colors are used on the undercarriage to emphasize the distinctive features and create a sophisticated and light feeling. The "C" shaped stance from the side view expresses the vehicle's stance.
(7) ABS and UBS to moderate vehicle behavior during braking
ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and UBS (Unified Braking System) are adopted for 3-wheel LMW. ABS optimally controls each of the three braking systems to reduce wheel lock, while UBS provides a balanced effect on the front brakes when the rear brakes are operated. The UBS also balances the effect of the front brakes when the rear brakes are applied, resulting in a calmer vehicle behavior when braking.
