Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. started accepting reservations for the 2021 models of the YZF-R1 and YZF-R6 Race Base Model exclusively for road race competition and track riding since September 4, and will release the models on January 29, 2021.
The YZF-R1 Race Base Model is based on the 2020 model year supersport YZF-R1, while the YZF-R6 Race Base Model is based on the 2020 model year supersport YZF-R6 (European specifications) and is designed for racing and other track use.
The 2021 model of the YZF-R1 race base model features electronic control systems such as YCC-T (Electronic Throttle Control) with APSG (Accelerator Pedal Sensor Grip), EBM (Engine Brake Management), and BC (Brake Control).
The YZF-R6 Race Base Model continues to feature electronic devices such as the Traction Control System (TCS) and Quick Shift System (QSS), as well as the same front suspension and front brakes as the higher-end YZF-R1 Race Base Model (2019 model). It continues to use the same front suspension and front brakes as the higher-end YZF-R1 Race Base Model (2019 model).
The first round of orders will be taken from September 4 to September 30, 2020, and the second round from October 1 to November 30, 2020.
*The "YZF-R1 Race Base Model" is shipped without the headlamp, position lamp, mirrors, horn, pillion seat, pillion footpeg, rear fender cover, and graphics.
*The "YZF-R6 Race Base Model" is shipped with the flasher, headlamp, tail lamp and other lighting equipment installed.
*Purchase privilege: Includes "wiring harness set" and "ECU" (including F.I. matching software), which are exclusive parts for track driving. It will be shipped separately from the main unit.
*The "YZF-R1 Race Base Model" and "YZF-R6 Race Base Model" have not been certified by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and therefore cannot obtain a license plate. They also cannot be ridden on roads. Riding on a road is a violation of the Road Traffic Law and the Road Trucking Vehicle Law. Private roads, precincts of temples, seashores, embankments, farm roads, forest roads, and other areas where people and vehicles can freely enter and exit, even if they do not have the form of roads, are considered to be roads.
