Honda has fully remodeled its motocross competition-exclusive CRF250R and enduro competition-exclusive CRF250RX, and will release the models on October 21 (Thursday) for a limited order period, respectively.

The engine was developed with a focus on low-rpm power while retaining the DOHC characteristics of high rpm growth. The valve timing was optimized and the air cleaner capacity was increased, contributing to increased torque at low rpm. To improve drivability, the exhaust ports have been straightened and a single muffler has been installed instead of the conventional two mufflers. The result is a more stable combustion at low rpm and improved exhaust efficiency, resulting in a more powerful and easier to handle engine.

The clutch has both toughness and improved operability by reviewing the detailed specifications and increasing the capacity. The gear transmission was redesigned with a new transmission assembly and revised gear ratios for more power and easier handling. The shift drum was also changed to improve shift feel and contribute to the total ease of engine handling.

In addition, the radiator has improved cooling performance by increasing the heat dissipation area and optimizing the fin angle. The shroud shape has been revised to improve the air flow and contribute to further improvement in cooling efficiency. In addition, the layout of the intake/exhaust system, drive system and cooling system has been optimized to ensure high toughness.

The CRF250R and CRF250RX are 4kg and 3kg lighter, respectively, thanks to a simplified structure and optimized rigidity. The front and rear suspensions are designed to provide the durability needed for competition riding, as well as to help maintain the rider's posture and reduce fatigue by reducing road disturbance and improving road-following performance on rough roads.

The CRF250RX is based on the CRF250R, but features a knuckle guard to prevent interference to the lever from stepping stones and branches, a side stand as standard equipment, and a large fuel tank.

The color scheme for both models is Extreme Red, which expresses the power and passion of Honda's off-road models. Orders will be accepted from August 27 (Friday) through December 26 (Sunday).

CRF250R

Manufacturer's suggested retail price: 847,000 yen (including consumption tax)

Main features of the CRF250R

Engine

The straightened exhaust ports and optimized valve timing improve combustion stability and exhaust efficiency at low rpm. Improved combustion stability and exhaust efficiency at low rpm.
A new transmission assembly, optimized gear ratios and a new shift drum shape to reduce weight have improved the engine's handling and shift feel over a wide rpm range.
The angle of the injector was changed. In addition to improving air intake efficiency, the intake and exhaust systems have been reviewed to improve the torque feel of the engine by increasing the volume of the air cleaner box and integrating the muffler.
The clutch disc has been changed from the previous model's eight discs to a nine-disc set. The durability of the clutch has been improved by reducing the friction material load and optimizing the lubrication function and primary ratio. In addition, the clutch lever operating load has been reduced by reducing the clutch spring load and reviewing detailed specifications.

Body

In addition to optimizing the rigidity of the newly designed frame to achieve a high level of both turning performance and stability, a review of the components has resulted in a weight reduction of approximately 1kg for the frame alone, 4kg for the CRF250R and 3kg for the CRF250RX.
The rear suspension stroke has been increased by 5mm to further improve road-following performance, contributing to maintaining rider posture and reducing fatigue.
The side covers with less overhang in the left and right directions and the single muffler make the body slimmer, allowing the rider more freedom to shift his or her weight.

CRF250RX

Manufacturer's suggested retail price: 863,500 yen (including consumption tax)

Main features of CRF250RX

The following specifications have been changed as an enduro model based on the CRF250R

The knuckle guard is a standard feature to prevent interference to the lever from stepping stones and branches when riding on wooded sections and forest courses with lots of bushes.
The large plastic fuel tank has been adapted to enduro competition.
Rear-wheel rim diameter was changed from 19 inches to 18 inches.
Newly designed sidestand reduces overhang and weight.

*Prices (including recycling costs) are manufacturer's suggested retail prices (including 10% consumption tax) and are for reference only.
*The CRF250R and CRF250RX may not be ridden on public roads or in areas used for general traffic. It is also not possible to register and obtain a license plate.
*Please be very careful where you drive. Private roads, forest roads, riverbanks, seaside, and other non-public roads where people and vehicles can freely enter and exit are considered to be roads, and are in violation of the Road Traffic Law and the Road Vehicles Law.
