New YZF-R7 Speed Block Color is Sure to Be Available in Japan! Special Edition Celebrates 60th Anniversary of World Grand Prix Entry

Yamaha's new YZF-R7, which is set to be released in Japan around the end of 2021, has been unveiled in Europe and North America in white and red speed block colors for the 2022 model year. In addition to the livery celebrating the 60th anniversary of its participation in the World Grand Prix, which began in May 1961, the special 60th anniversary emblem and gold-colored wheels make it stand out.

In addition to the YZF-R7, special colors were also available for the YZF-R1M, YZF-R3, and YZF-R125.

In North America, the official name for this livery was the "YZF-R7 World GP 60th Anniversary Edition". The same specification was also available on the basic grade YZF-R1. In Europe, the name was changed to the "R7 World GP 60th Anniversary", and other models in the lineup included the R1M, R3, and R125.

Deliveries of the 60th anniversary model in Europe will start in November, but it has not yet been announced for Japan. According to our information, the new YZF-R7 will be released in Japan around the end of the year or the beginning of the new year, and this 60th anniversary commemorative model for the World Grand Prix will be released at the same time.

As a result, the YZF-R7 in Japan is likely to be available in three colors (white and red) in addition to the blue and black colors already on sale overseas. The price for the regular color is expected to be less than 1 million yen without tax, while the 60th-anniversary model is expected to be about 1 million yen. The price in North America, by the way, is about 984,500 yen ($8999) for the standard color and 1,017,000 yen ($9,299) for the 60th-anniversary model, a price difference of about 32,800 yen ($300).


The new YZF-R7, equipped with a 689cc parallel twin-cylinder engine based on the MT-07, is available in the 60th-anniversary colors of Yamaha's participation in the World Grand Prix. The traditional Yamaha strobe color is vivid.

A commemorative emblem will be affixed to the tank of the 60th-anniversary motorcycle.

Red lines and logos are also placed on the seat cowl, which has ducts on both sides.


The speed block pattern on the center cowl is the key design element of this livery.


The main frame is shared with the MT-07's steel pipe, but it has been converted to a full cowl without any sense of discomfort.


The front fork of the YZF-R7 has been replaced by an inverted fork with a diameter of 41 mm.


The 60th-anniversary model has gold wheels on both the front and rear.

From left to right, the 60th-anniversary commemorative models are available on the YZF-R1/M, YZF-R7, YZF-R3, and YZF-R125. In Japan, it will also be available on the YZF-R25.
