BONNEVILLE T100(865cc)Owner: MOSS
This corner introduces one MY BIKE submitted to Webike Community every week.
The model introduced this time is Triumph「Bonneville T100」and the owner is "MOSS".
The Bonneville T100, made by Triumph in England, is a venerable series that has carried the name since the 1950s. The current model was introduced in 2002 and is still in the lineup today, although it underwent a model change to injection in 2008 and water-cooling in 2016. While the mechanism has been constantly updated to the latest standards, the retro-inspired styling, with its flat, horizontal seat, silencers, chrome-plated parts, and 18-inch spoked wheels, has remained unchanged. Many owners have been attracted to this model because of its unchanging appeal.
Mr. MOSS, introduced here, is one of the owners who love the Bonneville T100.
However, his machine is not a standard model. It is a limited edition model with "Stephen McQueen" specifications, of which only 65 were sold in Japan! It commemorates McQueen, who showed off his intense motorcycle action in "The Great Escape" released in 1963 and made many fans all over the world.
In keeping with the world of The Great Escape, set on the German front during World War II, the military-inspired limited edition models are extremely attractive! However, as it is a limited edition model, it is quite difficult to obtain. However, since it is a limited edition model, it is very difficult to obtain. However, since it is a limited edition model, it is not easy to obtain. I guess, in order to get the motorcycle of your dreams, it is important to make a quick and immediate decision!

The 2012 Bonneville T100 Steve McQueen Edition is a special dark green model inspired by the Great Escape. It was limited to 1,000 units worldwide and only 65 units in Japan.

Mr. MOSS enjoys touring without changing this style. However, the handlebar grip of the limited edition model was a little difficult to grip, so he replaced it with a more practical one.

The McQueen edition of the Bonneville T100 has not been released since 2012 and is no longer available. However, a McQueen edition of the Scrambler 1200 is coming in 2021, and there may be a new one in the future.
FROM MY BIKE COMMENTS
Motive for purchase
I had wanted one for a long time and had been looking for one, so I checked out the motorcycle and bought it on the spot.
<TRIUMPH Bonneville T100 Steve McQueen Edition>
This is a limited edition model made in collaboration with Hollywood star Steve McQueen.
A plate engraved with a serial number is attached to the handle clamp.
Limited production of 1,100 units worldwide and 65 units were sold in Japan.
Advantages
Triumph's traditional air-cooled vertical twin engine is excellent. The 360-degree crank gives the engine a mild and unique feel. The sound and ride quality of the rustic, mechanical air-cooled engine is great and has a flavor not found in clean, modern, water-cooled engines. The low-speed torque is very strong, which I had expected from an air-cooled engine that is more than 10 years old.
Disadvantages
I am satisfied with everything and have no complaints. If I had to find something to complain about, I would say that it weighs 230 kg and is heavy to handle. Also, the grips used on the Steve McQueen model are difficult to grip, so I changed to normal air-cooled Bonneville grips (water-cooled grips cannot be installed). (Water-cooled grips cannot be installed.)
Advice for prospective buyers
At the risk of sounding nostalgic, it is a shame that Triumph has discontinued the air-cooled engine.
The mild feeling of the 360-degree crank vertical twin engine is something you should definitely try.
Of course, I do not intend to push air-cooled engines, but I believe that one should be 100% self-satisfied when choosing a motorcycle.
