Solo(49cc)Owner: Mr. J

This corner introduces one MY BIKE submitted to Webike Community every week.
The model introduced this time is Honda「Solo」and the owner is "Mr. J".

The Solo, with a style that is not by any stretch of the imagination a moped, is a classic model introduced in 2003. It is characterized by a design that looks more like a bicycle than a motorcycle. This is because Solo was modeled after a moped (a bicycle with an engine) from Honda's pioneering days. The engine is a 3-speed transmission with a centrifugal clutch, in other words, the same as the Super Cub 50. It is surprising that it is so stylish, yet sturdy and maneuverable like a Cub!

Mr. J's Solo is one of those bikes that has been modified to enhance its retro style while maintaining its original features. The tank pad, fender plate, flat drag bar style handlebars, and lowered frame give it a sporty 1950s cafe racer look!
Also, the carrier and some parts have been diverted for bicycle use, emphasizing the unusual style.

It was a wonderful special model that attracted a unique and individual design.

The Solo was created by the project team that created the Ape and Zoomer. The unique style that made it hard to believe it was a type of moped attracted much attention, but production of the Solo ended without a model change. Currently, it is gaining maniacal popularity.

The rear carrier, which is not found in the standard model, is said to have been repurposed from bicycle parts by Mr. J. Since there are few dedicated custom parts, it is necessary to search for parts by trial and error. But it's also fun!

The Solo looks great in retro Taisho-era buildings. The style model is a Honda C-type released in 1949, a famous car from Honda's pioneering period with high sports performance despite being a moped.

FROM MY BIKE COMMENTS

Nostalgic charm.
One of the largest mopeds.
1.995m, width 0.710m, height 0.980m
Body size was evaluated by multiplying volume by 1.388m³.
Overall, the size of the vehicle ranks 469th out of 916 models, and 17th out of 146 models in the under 50cc class.

Advantages

It can reach speeds of 65km/h or more (measured off public roads), is stylish, clutch-less, fuel-efficient, and has a wide variety of parts that can be used for other vehicles.
Easy maintenance.
It is fun to ride.

Disadvantages

There are few custom parts for solo use only, so it is difficult to find parts that can be diverted.
(It's also fun, so you can do a lot of trial-and-error on your own.)

Advice for prospective buyers

When replacing the jet, it is best to use the same size as the factory one.
Main jet #62
Slow Jet #35
I was looking for a main jet and found a perfect one made in Taiwan on Amazon.

If you have not changed the air cleaner sponge, check it.
It may have deteriorated.
