[YAMAHA FZS-FI]Details and Test Ride Reviews

The FZS-FI is a 150cc naked model sold by INDIA YAMAHA. The FZS-FI is a 150cc class that is still rare in Japan. What kind of riding performance does it have? I will introduce the FZS-FI, the younger brother of FZ25!

1. A little gorgeous appearance

I can feel that its body size is bigger than the image of its engine displacement because of its design around the tank. This "FZS-FI" is an advanced version of "FZ-FI", and it is equipped with a plated air intakes and under cowl.

Overall Dimension [L x W x H]

1,990mm x 780mm x 1,080mm

[Curb Weight]

137kg

▲ Plated Air Intake
▲ Under Cowl

2. Foot grounding

The seat height is 790mm which is 5mm lower than the FZ25, but the foot grounding is worse than the FZ25 due to its seat design. However, since the vehicle weight is light, you can support the vehicle sufficiently by one foot.

[Seat Height]

790mm

[Foot Grounding]

▲ Seat Height: 790mm (Rider's Height 155cm)
▲ Seat Height: 790mm (Rider's Height 167cm)

▲ Seat Height: 790mm (Rider's Height 173cm)

3. LED headlights as standard equipment

The LEDs are adopted for the headlights. The tail light and the turn signals are using halogen bulbs.

[Headlights]

▲ Low Beam
▲ High Beam

[Tail light]

▲ OFF Braking!
▲ ON Braking!

4. Digital meter

The FZS-FI adopted full digital meter. The display layout is different to the FZ25. A lot of information can be selected for display in the digital meter such as a clock, ODO and trip meter by switching along with the speedometer, tachometer, and fuel gauge. If you ride with good fuel efficiency, the "ECO" indicator will show up at the lower right of the display.

5. Moderate position handlebar

You can ride the FZS-FI comfortably by a moderate handlebar position. The switches are equipped with only the necessary things for basic operation.

6. Undercarriage with ABS

Tire Size
Front: 100 / 80-17
Rear: 140 / 60-17

The front and rear wheels are 17 inches, so there are many tire options. Both front and rear brakes use disc brakes equipping only the front disc with BOSCH ABS. The FZS-FI is equipped with a saree guard as well as a mudguard.

▲ Front: 100 / 80-17
▲ Rear: 140 / 70-17

7. Equipped with BLUE CORE engine

・Max Output: 9.7kw (13.2PS) / 8,000rpm
・Max Torque: 12.8Nm / 6,000rpm

The FZS-FI is equipped with an air-cooled, 149cc, 2-valve, single-cylinder fuel-injected "BLUE CORE" engine. As the model name "FI", the FZS-FI uses the "Fuel Injection". The "FI" system contributes not only for stable start-up ability but also improves fuel efficiency.

8. Muscular tank design

The maximum tank capacity is 12.8L, but the tank design looks bigger than its specified capacity. The air intakes gives a more muscular impression.

9. Integrated seat

The riding seat is integrated with the pillion seat and has a wide seating surface area, and it is easy to sit on. The storage space under the seat looks wide, but half of it is an air cleaner box, so it doesn't store much luggage.

10. What is the selling price concern?

MSRP

2,200 USD

The price is cheaper or equivalent than the current 125cc scooter. This motorcycle is likely an active part in commuting as a secondary motorcycle, and is also attractive because it can be used to ride on highways.

11. Summary

The FZS-FI is light, so it is easy to handle. The swinging right and left is light and the winding ride seems to be fun. Its lightweight body can help reduce the fatigue in the city where there are many "stop and go".

With regards to the riding performance, it seems that the acceleration is difficult unless the gears are not shift changed frequently in accordance with the rev. When it comes to a fun motorcycle riding, it may be said that opportunities in many shifting operations is also one of its fun.

The FZS-FI is recommended for those who are looking for a second motorcycle that is easy-to-use wherever you want to go!
