Hello! I'm Gin of Webike staff. I would like to introduce my beloved motorcycle, the SUZUKI GSXS-S1000F, which plays an active part in various scenes from touring to circuit riding.

Reason Why I Purchased the GSX-S1000F

I had KTM 690 DUKE (2012) before I owned the GSX-S1000F. I've participated in amateur races with the 690 DUKE and it was a really fun motorcycle to ride on the circuit, but since I started riding on a circuit with a long distance course, I felt the limitations of the single engine.

I got busy with something when I started thinking that, "4-cylinder and 2-cylinder motorcycles are also good", and I've come to think that sports bikes are great for me, where I can enjoy circuit rides several times a year, and enjoy not only in the circuit but touring as well.

Exactly at that time, the SUZUKI GSX-S series was announced. The YAMAHA MT-09 had been a big hit in a short while, and the KAWASAKI Z1000 and NINJA1000 were included in the lineup of the 1000cc high dynamic performance bike. However, I was originally a member of the SUZUKI Party who was riding the GSX1100S KATANA. The moment I looked into the GSX characters, I decided to purchase GSX-S1000F at SUZUKI motorcycle shop without even taking a test ride.

GSX-S1000F Test Ride Review

In the past few years, I used to ride a quite outstanding motorcycle called KTM 690 DUKE, and I was surprised by the smooth engine and its handling more than anything. With a water-cooled and FI engine, the 4-cylinder engine inherited from SUZUKI GSX-R1000 is able to deliver power without stress from low to high speed rev, and I felt like how far is it going to accelerate?

The inherited supersport vehicle was so light that I couldn't imagine it was a 1000cc motorcycle, and I felt like I could ride comfortably.

I want to accelerate to this extent. When I thought to open the accelerator, I was amazed that this high-powered machine can be easily ridden thanks to the smooth power delivery engine that accelerates as expected and its flawless handling.

In addition, in spite of being a simple function, the low rpm assist that prevents engine stall is also very reliable in situations where you are concerned about throttle work, such as U-turn at low speed.

The Sense of Security of Traction Control

So, I got accustomed to driving and I went to the riding party at the Tsukuba Circuit. What surprised me most was the sense of security of the traction control. The condition of the first ride is a half-wet road surface.

I was riding a shiny new motorcycle while saying don't overdo it, but the traction control operation lamp on the meter enters the corner of the field view at the start of the last corner. This is the first time I've seen a machine that will adjust for me and give me a ride with moderate control of power. Indeed, the GSX-S is well equipped with traction control that even on wet road suface and poor road conditions, the sense of security is different. This really makes me feel comfortable outside of the circuit and even during touring.

Right Quality of Pipe Handlebar with Cowl

The GSX-S1000F is a full cowl, but it has a pipe handlebar instead of clip-on handlebars that are often equipped on a super sports motorcycle. My height is 170mm, the riding position by this pipe handlebar is a moderately relaxed forward leaning position. This pipe handlebar combined with a slightly wider handlebar width, allows me to relax and control the motorcycle without choosing a situation. It depends on this position to think that it is possible to ride casually while having an inherited body and engine of GSX-R series where I can ride easily.

The GSX-S1000F is equipped with a full cowl. It is not a big cowl, but there is not so much big difference. Whether I'm at cruising on a highway or straight on a circuit, I can feel the benefits firmly if I lie down lightly. In addition, as attractive point, the cowl of GSX-S1000F is also an advantage that it was made to escape the heat easily. This is because it is supposed to be used for touring and city riding.

This package of the pipe handlebar and full cowl are really just good, and I think that it became the attraction of GSX-S1000F.

Fuel Consumption, Better than Expected!

The GSX-R is a 4-cylinder 1000mm cylinder, so I think many people are concerned about the fuel consumption and besides, if it is touring that combines highway riding and winding, it will travel about 20km per liter.

If you just ride in the city, it's about 15km per liter. If you ride it fully open on the circuit, it's about 10km per liter. The fuel tank capacity is 17 liters, so if you're in a touring, you can refuel once in about 300km of travel and ride at ease. Even the riders who use it in the main touring, if this fuel consumption and cruising range, it's not a problem at all.

The GSX-S1000F Disadvantage

On the contrary, the GSX-S1000F have also a disadvantage, but the engine is good (although this is also the attractive point). The engine of the GSX-S1000 uses a little care because the pickup is good in a situation where I want to relax and run along with the flow of my eyes in a little slowly. It would be better if it is a low throttle setting at the start of the throttle opening.

In addition, since the rear seat is small, it is roughly impossible to ride with two people. It is good to say that the use of pillion is not expected. In addition, the pillion seat will also be overseen to be a large size. These points can be said to be a disadvantage, but you should consider the individuality of every motorcycle.

Summary

For me, the greatest attraction of GSX-S1000F is its versatility. From touring to circuit traveling by yourself, you can play an active part to meet your earnest desire.

Certainly, there are a few more suspensions and a few footpeg positions, but I think that is one of the pleasures of the motorcycles, which is there are lots of rooms to customize by every individual style after purchasing. I think that it is better if you customize this motorcycle, according to your style.

One of the most attractive features of the GSX-S1000F is the response in various ways to enjoy the motorcycle.
