HONDA CB223S Owner's Review

We will introduce Nutria's passionate story about his riding experience with his beloved motorcycle, CB223S, from Webike community "My Beloved Moto" campaign. He told us about his review of the CB223S, including its advantages and disadvantages, which he knows well because he's the owner.

Nutria's Brief Self-introduction

  • Motorcycle history

I've been riding since I got my moped license in 1979.

  • How I enjoy riding my motorcycle on a daily basis

It's a toy like a full-scale plastic model where I can use it for daily commuting to work.

  • How long have you been riding this motorcycle?

I have been riding CB223S from April 2016 to the present.

  • Purchasing motive / purpose

I started going on long tours with my moped scooter and I couldn't use it on the highway, so I wanted a motorcycle that could go at high speed.

Satisfaction / Advantage

  • For purpose

The CB223S is lightweight and easy to handle. It is made in Japan, mature and reliable. It doesn't come with anything, so it's okay to make use of its simplicity. There's a lot of elements you can play with yourself, so it's a simple structure that's easy to play around with, so it's not too hard to get into.

  • For riding

I want a little more power on the highway with 16hp, but it will show its full potential if ride slowly.

  • For the appearance

The single cylinder CB design, which is a descendant of the old CB90 and CB125JX and has a long history, is a bike-like shape and is an iconic shape of an immutable Japanese motorcycle. It does not become obsolete after many years.

Dissatisfaction / Disadvantage

  • For purpose
Since the rear suspension is too soft and the side stand is too long, it may fall over against the stand sometimes.

  • For riding
When its first and second gear quickly reach the peak, I feel uncomfortable. When you get to 100km/h, the vibrations are terrible.

  • For the appearance
It's a single suspension because it's built like an extension of an FTR. I wanted it to be CB400SS spec at least. The exhaust is the same as the FTR, so it should be a plated exhaust at least.

Summary (Recommended for riders)

Its mobility and range are good enough, and it is easy to modify and cost effective. Even if you get overtaken by a moped, you can ride with peace of mind, but you can ride at full throttle so you can use up all the performance of the motorcycle.

It doesn't have extraordinary acceleration, but you can ride without stress in slow traffic jam that seems to stop just by idling, and you can climb loose stairs and so on. You can drive on a wide range of roads with mobility.

It is suitable for those who think that it is a big APE or CUB that can travel at high speed because it is possible to go from the daily routine to narrow mountain roads and flat dirt roads without hesitation.
