Aprilia RX125 Owner Review

Webike Community "Let's Talk About Your Motorcycle! From the campaign, here's an enthusiastic narrative from Nopo, who rides an RX125!
He told us about the good and the dissatisfying aspects of the RX125 in-play review, which he knows well because he's the owner.

[A brief self-introduction]

I don't have a motorcycle history to be proud of. But I would like to write about it because I made a return last December.

The vehicle is an Aprilia RX125.
All of the vehicles I've experienced were 2st dual-purpose, and the only 4st was a CBX400F, which was my training bike at the time. This was the first 4st car I owned.
I am now baptized with an engine brake.

As I recall, it was over 30 years ago. My first encounter with motorcycles was when I was a student, when I got my regular driver's license, but I didn't have enough money to buy a car and my friend gave me his Kawasaki_AE50.
He was hooked on motorcycles, so he got a middle school diploma and gradually moved up to a 125cc model for commuting and then a 200cc model for touring. When I became a new member of society and lived in the Kansai area for a while, I made my debut on a forest road and course. I had a great time with my RX125.

The RX125 and I would like to relive those fun times a little closer to home.
In March, I had my first 1000km inspection and was ready to go. Now, let's get going!

[Satisfied points and advantages

The use is 'for commuting'. At least that's what I've been trying to convince my wife to do.
I turned on the ignition early in the morning to get some mileage in the extreme cold, and then came home and asked 'where have you been? was scared.
I've been using it for commuting since March.

For the uses.
For a height of 182cm, the full-size car is not cramped.
And the off-road type car which does not lean forward is easy for old people.

And the off-road type, which does not lean forward, is easy on old people.
Launch acceleration is sufficient. Since it's Haraji, high speed driving is unnecessary. Top speed is not necessary.
Compared to the days when four domestic manufacturers competed for performance, engine power has been suppressed due to emission regulations, etc., but the sense of acceleration by the taste of gear ratio is just right.

However, the sense of acceleration by seasoning the gear ratio is just right.
I've heard a lot of people fall in love at first sight, and I'm one of them. It's good-looking. Fenderless is an item I hear about a lot, and I've been there, but I don't have to play around with the exterior.
It also feels chunkier than a domestic full size. In my opinion, I attribute this to the thicker 90/90-21 tire size in the front and the inverted suspension.

[Dissatisfaction/weaknesses]

  • For applications
It's a commuter use, not noticeably inconvenient, but an ECU controlled FI car. It can't be helped, but the control is not suitable for an off car at all.
So, the battery rise is a concern. I feel the necessity to think about the case when I don't use it for a long period of time because I can't push the car around.

  • For driving
To compensate for the low RPM torque of the engine, the reduction ratio seems to be set to be very short, so it may not be good at intersections.

It may not be good at intersections.
Influenced by the design, the tank capacity is nominally small at 6.2L.

[Summary(Recommended for people like this)

As it is a foreign car, we are still concerned about it. There are few after-parts and third party parts, and we think it is impossible to replace them.
However, if you find a bike shop with good after-sales support, your fears about foreign bikes will be reduced.
Aprilia bikes are eligible for the Piaggio support program. When I bought my RX125, I checked this point carefully and signed up with a bike shop that gave me the right answers.

I think it's a good idea to talk to your bike shop about customization and keep this support to an extent that you can continue to receive it.

It looks like a real off-roader, but considering that it's an out-of-towner's bike, I think it's best to be casual about it, mainly for city use, and not mainly for off-road courses or forest roads, as if you were taking it out for touring in the woods from time to time.

Thank you, Nopo-san, for this narrative that shows us your love for the
RX125!
