Ducati HYPERMOTARD796 Owner Review

Here's an enthusiastic review from "Nosuke" who rides a HYPERMOTARD 796, from Webike Community "My Beloved Moto" campaign! He gave us an in-app review of the HYPERMOTARD 796, including the satisfaction and the dissatisfaction, which he knows well because he's the owner.

Brief self-introduction

  • Motorcycle history and how I usually enjoy my motorcycle.

I am a returning rider for the first time in over 10 years. It's been 9 years since I came back. Usually on my days off, I go touring in search of the winding mountain roads around the Kanto area and its spectacular scenery. Occasionally, I go out for long touring.

  • The period when I rode this bike.

It has been 9 years and over 85,000km since I bought a new car after I returned.

  • Motive for purchase and use

I fell in love with the Hypermotard when I looked at the Ducati website on my return and fell in love with the Hypermotard. I was concerned about the seat height and decided to buy it after straddling a lowered vehicle at the dealership to make sure I could manage the legroom. However, I didn't have a large driver's license, so I had to go to a driving school first.
No vehicle was compared and examined because of love at first sight.

Satisfactory points/advantages

  • For applications

The comfortable position makes it feel less tiring even on long tours. 800cc two-cylinder has enough horsepower for you to feel a lack of power on the highway or on mountain roads.

  • For driving

It is light in weight among large vehicles and has a slim width, so you can drive on twisting mountain roads, corners and turns comfortably.

  • For appearance

I like the red, distinctive motard style that is typical of Ducati, the slim, sexy body lines, the truss frame, inverted forks and cantilevered swingarm, and the mechanical look of the air-cooled engine.

Dissatisfaction/weaknesses]

  • For applications

Because of the standing position, the upper half of the body gets a lot of wind when driving at high speeds. I put in an external screen and it's much easier.
The ETC equipment went under the seat, but there is no other loading space. Touring can be remedied by using a tank bag or seat bag.
Since it is an air-cooled engine, it can overheat in summer traffic, so I try to choose empty roads as much as possible.

  • For driving

The high seat height makes it difficult to get your footing, so you need to be careful when stopping and making U-turns. I stood and stumbled a few times until I got used to it.

  • For looks.

I find that the mirrors that pop up next to the stock hand guards are easily blurred by vibration and make it difficult to check behind the wheel. And it makes the car wider, which is a concern in congested traffic conditions.
I have replaced it with a normal style mirror of the factory option.

Summary

I recommend it to those who like this unique look. It doesn't have good footing, but once you get it going, it's a large, lightweight, slim and easy to drive vehicle.
The air-cooled engine is easy to maintain and you can easily change the oil and plugs. You should try to do the maintenance yourself.

Thank you, Nosuke, thank you for your story of the HYPERMOTARD 796 love that can be felt very clearly!
