Kawasaki Ninja 250SL Owner Review

Here's a passionate review from "g1224058" who rides a Ninja 250SL, from Webike Community "My Beloved Moto" campaign! He gave us an in-play review of the Ninja 250SL, including the satisfaction and dissatisfaction, which he knows well because he's the owner.

Brief self-introduction

  • I've been riding my motorcycle for 18 years and have been touching it longer than riding it.
  • I used to ride this motorcycle until I purchase a new one on March 2020.
  • My motivation for purchasing this motorcycle is for sports riding
I wanted to ride a 2000's motorcycle that I didn't have to worry about parts anymore. (I ended up buying an unpopular, out-of-print model that had only been on sale for 2 years.)

    Satisfaction / advantages

  • The clip-on handlebar of the STD position(replica) is rare nowadays.
  • Bias tires and 1 liter of OIL, etc.
  • The single-cylinder engine accelerates to 140km/h on average.
  • Rear braking ability is good for a Kawasaki

Dissatisfaction / disadvantage

  • Visibility is poor due to the position of the mirror. I always see my reflection in half of the mirror. (Can be corrected to normal motorcycle position with mirror risers)
  • The footpeg is low in relation to the position of clip-on handlebar (setback plate improves it to some extent).
  • Knee against the side cowl (just at the sharp end...)
  • The seat height is low for the position (a little more than 3cm up)
  • The engine is a bit clunky (sounds like an old-fashioned Kawasaki, but if it's based on the KLX, it's a good thing. Never compare it to Honda or Yamaha.)
  • All the meters are digital (I wish only the tachometer was analog)
  • It is said to be light (150kg) but 150kg for 250cc is not super light by any means.

Summary

I think it's definitely an exciting motorcycle for a generation that doesn't know what the ZXR and NSR were like back in the day. It's also easy for that generation to understand if they think of it as a modern version of the SRX or Goose.

It's not like a two-cylinder sport bike. If it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit at all, and if it does, it's hard to find a better bike than this one.

Finally, I would definitely not recommend it to anyone who is new to riding a motorcycle. It's a motorcycle with a certain quaintness to it. It's a motorcycle that you can compare to other model to see how good it really is.

It's a system that will be re-evaluated later on, like the SRX and Goose I mentioned earlier, and it's not the kind you'd want. Buy it quickly while you have a vehicle in good condition. When you buy it, be sure to change the fork oil and grease up the rear suspension links.

Thank you, g1224058, for a narrative that really shows your love for the Ninja 250SL!
