Honda Grom Owner Review
Here's a passionate review from "Ben" who rides the Grom (MSX-125), from Webike Community "My Beloved Moto"campaign! He told us about his in-play review of the Grom, including the advantages and disadvantages, which he knows well because he's the owner.
Brief self-introduction
- Motorcycle history and how I usually enjoy my motorcycle.
About 45 years ago, when I was still in high school, I got a motorcycle license and bought a Honda CB250 Senior as my first motorcycle and rode it. However, I was able to ride this motorcycle for only about two years, and I had been away from motorcycles since I was 19 years old due to my work and family, etc. However, I was able to return to motorcycles at the age of 55 years old due to the fact that the mortgage of my house and child-rearing came to an end. After that, I am enjoying solo touring and mass touring with my motorcycle friends in the company until now. In addition, since I also like a camera, I load it in the box of the motorcycle, such as a single-lens reflex camera, and enjoy the photo touring, etc. sometimes, too.
- The period when I have ridden this motorcycle.
I have ridden my motorcycle from October 2015 to October 2019 for four years. I had to let go of this motorcycle last year for various reasons, but it's a very nice motorcycle and I would like to ride it again if I have the opportunity!
- Motivation for purchase and purpose of use
I have other large motorcycles, but I bought this Grom because it's 125cc (moped type) so I thought it would be good for a quick ride in the city for shopping or for touring in the neighborhood.
Satisfaction / advantages
- For purpose
As you can see the size of the body, it is quite small motorcycle. Therefore, it is the best motorcycle for short ride, because it can turn in a small radius at any rate.
- For riding
Grom is easy to handle and rides reasonably well due to its compact size and light weight. Best of all, the fuel economy is amazing! It's a great motorcycle with an amazing 50-60km/liter.
- For appearance
It looks small, but personally I think it's cute and cool, like a smaller version of the Yamaha MT07 or 09 (little brother).
Dissatisfaction / Disadvantages
- For purposes
I don't have any particular complaints about its use, but for long-distance touring, the OEM seat is too hard and painful, so I don't think it will last for 100km per ride.
- For riding
It looks pretty fast (in terms of speed), but the acceleration is not so good. Torque wise, it feels weak in the same 125cc class.
- For appearance
It looks cool and I like it, so I have no complaints.
Summary
Since it is 125cc (moped type), I think it is best for short ride or short touring of about 200km. If you want to do long touring more than that, I think that customization to a soft seat is necessary. Anyway, I think it is a fun motorcycle to do various customization ^ ^
Thank you, Ben, for a a narrative review that shows so much love about your beloved Grom!
