Yamaha Touring Serow Owner Review

We will introduce Todo's passionate story about his riding experience with his beloved motorcycle, Touring Serow, from Webike Community's "My Beloved Moto" campaign.

Todo told us about his review of the Touring Serow, including its advantages and disadvantages, which he knows well because he's the owner.

Brief self-introduction

Motorcycle history and how I usually enjoy my motorcycle

I started getting a moped motorcycle when I was in high school and it's a fun time to ride a moped in the county.

I obtained a medium-sized driver's license as a college student. Hooked on camping and touring, driving from Hokkaido to Kyushu. I obtained a large-sized license while still in school. As a working adult, I switched to a large motorcycle and have been riding all over Japan. The motorcycle is mainly my means of transportation, and although it is good to just ride it, I believe that traveling is what makes a motorcycle a motorcycle.

How long have you been riding this motorcycle?
November 2018 to the present and almost 30,000km.

Motive for purchase
I rode the Bandit 1250F all over Japan for over 100,000 miles, but I haven't been able to go anywhere but on unpaved roads, so I bought the Touring Serow as an off-road version of my travel motorcycle. It was potentially discontinued, so I decided to buy it at the right time.

Satisfaction and Strengths

For applications
A motorcycle that allows for both travel and off-road fun. It can carry luggage, is easy to pillion riding, and has good foot grounding. Convenient in every way.

For riding
This is an easy motorcycle to ride that you can get into without any problems from the first time you ride it off-road. The small turn is very good. There is a sense of security in knowing that you will be able to enter any pathway.

For appearance
Nothing to say. It's cool and cute from every angle. There are antelope designs, but the serow in nature looks best.

Dissatisfaction and Weaknesses

For applications
As for high-speed driving, I gave up and just drove in the lane. I don't climb hills when pillion riding, so it's tough. I wish the fuel tank was a little bigger. Anyway, you need to allow plenty of time at high speed.

For riding
I feel that the front end of the motorcycle seems to be floating, although it is partly due to the fact that we are often tandem with luggage on board. I put performance dampers on it and it improved a lot. The stock mirrors are small, so I changed to Napoleon mirrors.

For appearance
The front light is yellow. I'm going to change it to LED when it goes out. Darkness is solved by using fog lights in conjunction with the fog lights. It's not limited to the SEROW, but it gets dirty quickly as it goes off-road.

Summary

  • Traveling motorcycle! You can travel on any road.
  • You can also enjoy visiting your hometown.
  • Perfect for off-road beginners.
  • It is easy to carry the luggage.
  • There may be few motorcycles that can be ridden so comfortably.
  • It can be ridden in snow.
  • I often see them, so I'm sure I'll be able to see my fellow antelope.

Thank you, Todo, for a narrative that conveys love on your Touring Serow!
