YAMAHA MT-07 Owner Review

Introducing a passionate story of "Rakuchi" who ride MT-07, from Webike Community's "My Beloved Moto" campaign.

He shared his review of the MT-07, including the advantage and the disadvantage, which he understands well because he is the owner.

Brief self-introduction

Motorcycle history and how I usually enjoy my motorcycle.
I have been riding motorcycles for a total of 8 years, but I am a returning rider with a 12-year break in the middle. CB400SF→CBR600F4i→CBR954RR→12 years blank→MT-07

I ride every day except when it's snowing or the road is frozen. 70 percent commuting, 20 percent touring, and 10 percent circuit riding.

How long have I been riding this motorcycle?
September 2017~present (April 2020) I still ride it every day.

Motive for purchase
I've always hated crowded trains since I was young, and when I got married I got off the motorcycle and rode it reluctantly, but I couldn't stand it any longer, so I begged my wife to let me go back to commuting with my motorcycle.

Satisfaction

For applications
The twin has torque from low to mid-speed and the lightness of the body makes it comfortable to drive around town. I thought that if you only commute to work, it is enough to keep the stock one as long as you change the mirror to the slip-on type.

For riding
The MT-07 is "the best street motorcycle". The easy riding posture, sufficient torque, and low chassis rigidity make it comfortable to ride on the streets because it gives you a "feel of the motorcycle" even on the street level. However, since the stock parts of the MT-07 are specialized for city riding and are too weak to be used at higher stages, you will be surprised at the difference between the two motorcycles after each part change and you will be very satisfied with your ride.

For appearance
I think it's stylish and superbly designed for a cheap motorcycle.

Dissatisfaction

For applications
If you don't work on the suspension, you won't be able to enjoy touring, if you don't increase the rigidity, you will feel uneasy at high speeds, and if you want to do pillion riding, the handlebars are too far away and your passenger will likely fall forward.

For riding
The rewritten ECU makes the engine quite pleasant, but once you get used to driving it, 73ps is a bit insufficient. Personally, I think the upper limit of horsepower that can be used up and played within Japan is around 100ps. However, as it is less than that, depending on the location and stage, I feel a lack of power, which makes me a little disappointed. It's a little bit like it doesn't have the acceleration it deserves when it is needed.

For appearance
Sometimes I feel out of place when touring with my buddies because I'm often the only naked one on the motorcycle, lol.

Summary

This is a great option for large beginners, returning riders, those who only ride around town, and those who want to experience the benefits of replacing parts.

Thank you, Rakuchi, for a narrative that conveys so much of the MT-07 love!
