The Motorcycle News of September 24, 2021 lists the number of motorcycles sold in the first half of this year.
In 2021, overall new motorcycle sales are up a whopping 20% over last year. One factor is that people's means of transportation has shifted from public transportation to personal transportation due to the Corona, but it's hard to say with the recent camping boom. In any case, it can be said that the situation in which the sigh of separation from motorcycles is louder than the sound of exhaust has finally come to an end. I think that motorcycles will be riding around the country in high spirits after Corona.
This time, as the first part of the series, we will introduce the motorcycles ranked 6th to 10th in terms of sales. What kind of motorcycles made the list?

No.10 Honda 400X/CBR400R Sales: 875 units
It was released in 2019. The latest model has two siblings, the ADV 400X and the full-cowl sport CBR400R. Both vehicles share the same engine and frame, but the styling and riding style are clearly divided according to genre, with the 400X having a 19-inch front wheel and the 400R having a more forward-leaning riding posture, refining the product so much that you don't even notice they are brothers unless you check the details. To put it simply, both motorcycles have become incredibly cool.
No.9 Harley-Davidson FLHCS/FLFBS/FXBRS/FXFBS/FXLRS/FX BBS Sales: 903 units
Released in 2021, these five models are equipped with 1800cc class engines. These five models are cruiser models without cowls and are available in a variety of styles from traditional to custom. In an age where the environment is a top priority, this style with its steel feel is something that only Harley can produce. There's no other big motorcycle that can deliver the sound and soul of a big displacement like this one. Everything is made roughly, but it can be forgiven and accepted as a taste, which is the strange thing about Harley.
No.8 Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom/Roadster/Forty-Eight Sales: 934 units
2018 Release. These three motorcycles are classified in the old Sportster family; all three are powered by 1200cc class engines, and the key point is that the whole motorcycle, mainly the engine, is built smaller and lighter than any other Harley. All three motorcycles are powered by 1200cc engines, which makes them smaller and lighter than other Harley motorcycles. This means that while the motorcycles still have the character of a Harley V-twin engine, they are also more nimble than a Harley, and can negotiate twisty Japanese mountain passes more easily than 1800cc motorcycles. If you want to enjoy riding to the fullest, please choose one of these three motorcycles.
No.7 Honda CB650R/CBR650R Sales: 983 units
2019 Release. Siblings that share the same engine and frame. The CB is the naked CB and the CBR is the full cowl sport, but the CB has been refined to a more traditional motorcycle style and the CBR to a more SS-like style. The most notable feature of both motorcycles is the engine, which is a rare inline four-cylinder engine for this era. This engine was different from the one in the CBR600RR, but it was a high-revving type that produced 95ps at 12,000rpm. It is a gentle sports model that not only has the rarity of a four-cylinder, but also allows many people to experience the four-cylinder nature of riding by turning it.
No.6 Honda GB350 Sales: 993 units
Released in 2021. It's so popular that it's already ranked 6th on the list just after its launch. Because of this, domestic deliveries have been pushed back to next year, and those who have pre-ordered are probably waiting for next year to arrive tomorrow. The secret to its popularity is its styling, which is not retro but rather "this is what you get when you design a motorcycle that is faithful to its basic structure. So depending on who you look at it, you may find it "old", "cute", "cool" or "round". It's hard to describe the styling in a single word, but I think the secret to the GB's popularity is the depth of nostalgia that doesn't fix its value.
Summary
The result was that many classic models were ranked from 6th to 10th. It can also be said that many of the models are middle class, less than a liter. Although the popularity of motorcycles is on the way to recovery, it can be read that the size of displacement and high driving performance are not status symbols at present. Rather, the result is that motorcycles that are designed faithfully to the basic structure of a motorcycle are popular. The pursuit of speed is now a thing of the past, and in today's busy world, it's time to take it slow on a tripod.
In the next issue, we will introduce the top five small motorcycles. Enjoy!
