Make Your Long Rides More Comfortable with HENLYBEGINS Seat Bag!

Parts & Gear Reviews

A "seat bag" is necessary for camping, touring, and other motorcycle trips. It's probably a must for packing outdoor gear and all the souvenirs you'll be buying on your way home!

When it comes to seat bags today, a variety of seat bags have been introduced with each manufacturer's elaborate ideas, such as those with a backpack function and those with a waterproof function. The seat bag we're introducing in this article is a so-called classic type.

I'm a self-proclaimed camper myself, so I know the pros and cons of this thing. I've thoroughly touched it and experienced its functions on a practical basis. To sum it up, this bag would be a 'must-buy'.

Okay, so that's enough of a preamble to begin my review of the HENLYBEGINS Seat Bag PRO DH-742 to 745!

Kenjie's Introduction
I loves traveling and camping, with a defensive range from Hokkaido in the upper part of the country to Kagoshima in the lower part. My goal for this year is to start camping in the snow. It was taken up by a camping enthusiast and featured on the motorcycle YOUTUBE channel "Bike Chample".

How to choose a seat bag, what to look for?

Do you buy a seat bag based on how much you can fit in it?

While that's another important item, it's not the most important one as items that are too big can be placed on top of the bag.

So where should we look first? The answer is simple: storage.

It's easy to focus on convenience and functionality while using it, but most of us don't leave our seat bags on our motorcycle all year round, do we? Some of you may only use it once or twice a year during the Golden Week or Obon season.

Anyway, you don't want to let it take up too much space, as it sits in the back of the garage or shed for most of the year. If you are considering purchasing a seat bag, it is recommended that you focus on whether or not it has a folding feature.

In addition, folding bags may sacrifice surface strength for storage. It is also important to look at the top and sides to see if there is any warping during assembly.

The reason I decided to buy it in the introductory sentence was because the seat bag DH-743, 744, and 745 held those two points in check. There are a lot of other great features that will tickle your appetite for buying, which we'll unpack in the next chapter!

Features

A seat bag that adds load capacity to your motorcycle. Although there is one purpose, each manufacturer differs in its features when it comes to convenience. There is always an intention to develop each model, and it's interesting to see how they evolve over time. It's sometimes interesting to try to figure out how they evolved from the previous models.

Here's a look at the features in the HENLYBEGINS Seat Bag PRO!

A difference in comfort! Slippage prevention function

The bottom of the bag has a non-slip seat that prevents the bag from slipping out of place. Especially if the bag is heavy or stuffed with a lot of stuff, the bag can slide forward and the rider can get caught between the tank and the bag. (It's tight and uncomfortable.)

This is a nice feature for the user, as it prevents the motorcycle from slipping off, which in turn makes it easier to balance while riding.

Also, the red belt that stands out in the photo.

By tucking this belt into the rear seat, it further secures the seat bag in place!

It seems to be limited for the motorcycles, but it is GOOD that it seems to be compatible with the Supersport, which has a slanted seat and especially easy to shift the bag to the front! It's an unlikely idea!

Main flap for a military look

Could the main flap be the face of a seat bag? The familiar PALS (Pulse) tape, which is used for military equipment tactical vests and backpacks, covers the entire flap, further enhancing the outdoor color of the bag.

The original pulse tape was also designed to be an add-on to the vest and bag to add additional items to the vest and bag, a feature that further enhances the expansion of the seat bag.

The disappointing thing is that the livery lineup is only black. It would be interesting to have a color scheme with a military motif, such as tan or olive.

There's also a hidden pocket on the flap, perfect for storing your frequently used mobile gadgets.

Collapsible and expandable! And yet, it doesn't lose its shape!

The HENLYBEGINS seat bag has a folding feature. I mentioned this one above in "How to choose a seat bag, what to look for?", and it was the part I paid the most attention to personally.

There was also a connecting belt inside and a reinforcement plate on each side of the bag to prevent it from losing its shape.

And surprisingly, it's a no-no, and it also has an extension!

Extends to the sides with a simple zippered opening. The width of the small size is 10cm, and the LL size is 16cm wider than the small size, so you don't have to worry about your luggage increasing on the way.

The anti-shape measures are still intact even when the seat bag is expanded, and the protruding portion of the bag will not sag even when expanded. You'll feel better and more stable when you're packing snugly!

A twist on the adjuster buckle that prevents the belt from playing.

When you get to the campsite, you'll want to take your seat bag off your motorcycle to prevent theft and sudden rain. However, have you ever had the inconvenience of going out shopping or going to a hot spring after setting up because the belt has been unloaded?

The HENLYBEGINS seat bag buckle has a male front side and a female rear side, so they can be connected to each other without a bag. It's built to the smallest detail that allows you to act on the bike right after you drop the bag off.

Two patterns of inner access

Access to the interior is also possible through the main flap on the top surface and the side surfaces. You want to keep the items you carry on the outside of the seat bag in something that can get wet in case of rain. The ability to carry long items such as poles and cots through the main flap without worrying about them is a very important point.

Both sides of the bag can be opened and closed, but be careful not to leave both side flaps open, as the bag will not be able to maintain its independence.

Now, on the next page, we've tested the Seatbag PRO's size lineup on a variety of vehicles!

I'm also reporting on the sizing of this product, so please take a look at it.

Which one do you want? Size Lineup

There's a saying that "bigger is better than smaller", but it's strange that a rider who mainly stays in hotels would buy a large bag for long touring, and vice versa. You want to choose the best size for your application.

Here's an easy-to-follow look at the DH-742 to 745 seat bag sizes!

TOURING SEAT BAG PRO [DH-742]

Size S
(H x W x D)
200mm x 300~400mm x 300mm
Recommended UsesFor day trips, hotel stays, and overnight touring

This is good!
If you don't want to wear a bag that's too clunky for your vehicle, don't hesitate to do so! It is not a comfortable size for camping touring, but it is the best size for touring mainly for hotel nights. The larger the size of the seat bag, the more likely it is to protrude over the sides. In that respect, the 300-400mm width is an acceptable size, where overhang is not a concern. The lightweight and compactness of the motorcycle makes it light and fun to drive on the winding roads!

TOURING SEAT BAG PRO [DH-743]

Size M
(H x W x D)

Recommended UsesFor day trips, hotel stays, and overnight touring

Camping Seat Bag PRO [DH-745]

Size LL
(H x W x D)
300mm × 530~690mm × 320mm
Recommended UsesYou won't have any trouble with your luggage! For long touring and luxury camping.

This is good!
Choose the LL size if you want to go to Hokkaido and the other places as well. It's reassuring to know that it's a size that has plenty of room for a change of clothes and camping gear. If your bag gets heavy, the red belt on the bottom of the seat will prevent the seat from slipping and make your long rides more comfortable!

Personally, I would like to attach a portable stove or cooker to the pulse tape section.

Why do you keep the height within 300mm and the depth within 320mm?

We've introduced you to four different sizes of seat bags, but did you notice that the only major difference is in width, and not that much difference in height and depth?

This is a point of concern for HENLYBEGINS.

Too much depth will result in a narrower gap between the tank and the bag and an uncomfortable riding position. If you continue to be in an unreasonable position, fatigue will slowly build up in each part of your body. To reduce the pressure on the bag and allow for more natural touring style, we have kept it under 320mm.

The next reason for keeping the height down is to ensure stable maneuverability. As a motorcycle is a vehicle that banks and turns, it is not legal to not be able to maintain your balance. The higher the load, the less stable the car body becomes, like a pendulum. So HENLYBEGINS' answer was 300mm or less.

Of course, you may want to add something on top of the bag, but don't overload it with high objects or heavy objects as this will reduce your balance.

Trying to installed the seat bag on our staff's motorcycle!

YZF-R25

So, to take full advantage of the rumored red belt, I installed the Seatbag PRO on our staff's YZF-R25! The rear seat holds the belt firmly in place and prevents it from slipping. This is a great way for supersport riders to plan their camping debut without fear. It expands the range of ways to play. I could sense such possibilities from HENLYBEGINS' seat bag.

Z800

I got on a roll and installed the LL size on Z800 as well. If your motorcycle has a fender eliminator custom, you may struggle with belt installation. This time I took support from the license plate bracket because the bag was empty, but with a fully loaded bag, I'm somewhat concerned.

MT-09

I chose the smallest size, S, for the MT-09. Looks like a day trip or overnight touring, which is very much a match! In this one you can put your raincoat in ...... and it will be able to handle a sudden rain.

CB1300 SUPER BOL D'OR

The CB1300, which is the largest test motorcycle in terms of displacement. It looks small even though I have installed a medium size bag which is 500mm wide. It's a great match, with little side overhang.

Summary and a lovely gift as well!

This article has been a good thing about the Seat Bag PRO from start to finish, but I can assure you that it really is a great bag with a wealth of features.

Even the crew I went with for the shoot said, "I think I'm going to buy this one! The author is so breathtaking that I would say ......, and I guess the first step is to arrange for a motorcycle with a separate rear seat (lol).

And this seat bag PRO is the current campaign on Webike Recommended Touring Spots and Touring Roads" made by everyone in the lineup as a prize.
