Yamaha MT-07 HACK

From the Webike community's "Moto Hack" campaign, Here's a passionate story from "Shibu" who rides an MT-07! As an owner, he can tell us how to use the stock parts of the MT-07!

A brief self-introduction

I bought a new motorcycle five years ago and have been enjoying going on long trips with my tent. I don't know how long I will be able to do this physically, but as long as I continue to have the energy to go, I will let my body keep me company. I've been running around the edge of the mainland of Honshu, aiming to run through the 50 most famous roads on the Internet.

It's been raining so much lately that touring hasn't been possible, and I'm looking forward to the end of the rainy season when the corona will subside.

A brief description of this HACK

Before the MT-07, all of my bikes were full cowl bikes, and I began to feel the effects of the wind strongly after riding the MT-07 without a cowl. In addition, my hands and arms received considerable wind pressure at high speed, and I felt tired, so I was looking for a handguard for wind and rain protection. I was also looking for something that would not compromise the stock shape and color of the car as much as possible. So I searched the internet and found only one item at the time, which was the diversion of a stock MT-09 tracer part.

Parts, tools and things needed for this HACK

Required number 1 set
*Since there is a wide range of components, you need to check/order them carefully.

How to do the HACK, instructions, work instructions, etc.

All you need to do is remove the bar end of the MT-07's handlebars and put them on while assembling the parts you purchased. It doesn't take much time to do the work itself, just a few hex wrenches are needed.

The downside is that the handle is shorter than the MT-09 tracer, or if you screw the parts that screw into the bar end all the way in, they will probably deform. I used tape to prevent water, dust, etc. from getting into the bar end, and taped it to a position where it wouldn't screw in as far. Now there is no wobble at all.

Summary of HACK

Advantage
I still think the color matches the stock color perfectly. The role as a handguard is so good that it is attached to the MT-09 tracer, so it fulfills the role perfectly. This has made my hands and arms much less tired, even at high speeds. The unexpected effect is that the wind doesn't blow directly on my hands and the synergistic effect of the grip warmer has significantly improved the coldness of my hands in winter.

Disadvantage
I guess it's about the price. I think it's more expensive than the generic product. I was drunk and popped it. I thought the amount would be enough to worry about when making a decision, because once you pay it, it's over.
impressions

I'm very satisfied with the color, as it is a perfect match to the stock color. It works well enough, and I would highly recommend giving it a try if you are using the MT-07 in a touring version.

Thank you, Shibu, for posting that valuable stock diversion HACK!
