This week's pickup review
I feel like a 3-piece set replacement is basic.
I Installed it on a ZX-6R (19). The swingarm pivot, rear wheel, and front wheel were replaced in that order, and the next one was replaced after a test ride around the neighborhood each time. After replacing all of them, I rode about 10km on a straight line on the main road, and the next day I rode about 150km on the mountain road I usually ride.
On my motorcycle, swapping the shafts and spinning the wheel with the wheel floating didn't make it turn better. No change in pushing and walking. This did not change even after replacing three shafts.
When I drove through the residential area where I live and turned right and left, I thought, "There seems to be a slight change", but I think it's just my imagination. That was my impression.
But when I got on the main road and went over 50km/h, I felt it clearly. I drive straight!
You may be thinking, "What am I saying? But if you've ever ridden with a KOOD shaft, you'll know what I mean. The motorcycle doesn't swing over the small bumps and seams in the pavement.
Unlike small-displacement, older motorcycles, the 6R is a very stiff motorcycle, so it's impossible for that level of disturbance to keep it upright, but the motorcycle was still reacting, even if only slightly. I think the rider was not aware of this.
The biggest "benefit" of riding straight is speed. As the amount of force pushing the motorcycle forward that was escaping due to minor disturbances is reduced, more speed can be achieved.
In my case, it's enough to make me think I'm in one gear higher. I shifted up a gear without thinking about it while chasing the vehicle in front, and when I checked the indicator, I thought it was 6th gear, but it was 5th! I had the experience of multiple times a day.
Another benefit is that you don't have to be afraid of the motorcycle going off in gaps in the road!
A lot of rider have had the experience of hitting a gap and having the handlebars shake from side to side when you're riding comfortably at a good pace through a mountain pass. It's a very scary experience, but after switching to a KOOD shaft, the same thing can happen to you and you can just say, "Oh, I got swung, but it's not that scary."
Likewise, I'm sure there are people who have experienced a motorcycle floating in the air for a moment in a gap. This is also very scary, but it's not a problem, because the motorcycle is stable after landing.
These are the benefits of changing the KOOD axle shaft. Just "It's so much better! It's like a whole other thing! I'm not so sure that's the case.
I think you can feel the effect of any one of them. But to get the most out of it, you need to replace three bottles.
Cost-effectiveness is really going to be different for everyone. If you think "it didn't make as much of a difference as I expected," then it's not a big deal for the price. It's a great solution to my driving problems! If you think that the product is worth the price, then I would say that it is worth the price.
My personal evaluation was, "120,000 yen for three shocks is definitely expensive. I can afford Ohlins steering damper, and if I reach out a little more, I can buy Ohlins rear shocks. But I had to pay this price to get this effect, and I have no intention of going back once I know. (RICO)
Check out various KOOD shafts from Webike!
Rather than replacing the pivots, rear, and front at once, he replaced them in order and test drove them each time to check the feeling. I would like to learn from his attitude of carefully dealing with the changes in his motorcycle in this way.
