I suddenly got a Ténéré 700 with zero motorcycle experience. I had the motorcycle delivered with this engine guard installed, thinking that I would probably fall over.
I took this photo on my first long touring trip to Sado Island, at the famous sunset spot, Couple Rock. I was smiling, thinking I had taken a pretty cool picture, when the engine stalled on start-up and I was in trouble. It was my first time standing still.
Thanks to the KN2145, the handguard, and exhaust system were only slightly scratched, but the cowl and blinkers were intact. I'm so glad I installed an engine guard.

The side stand came off during maintenance, I failed to hang the maintenance stand, there was a hole when I tried to put my foot on it, my foot slipped on a fallen leaf or a manhole, it collapsed during a typhoon, etc. I once had a two-stroke engine start in reverse and I didn't realize it, so I backed up and crashed.
This is the best proof of the effectiveness of the engine guard in protecting the vehicle in the event of an unexpected fall. It's good to have more than one picture! You should buy an engine guard too!
