Exciting Prediction of the Forthcoming Turbocharged Hayabusa!

Recently, the subject of the turbocharged Hayabusa seems to become the topic of the conversation so often. Rumors predicting the arrival of the turbocharged Hayabusa is circulating all over the world.

The initial Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa was brought to the market as the "ultimate sport" in the end of the century, 1999.

It set a world record at the Yatabe test track in those days: 312.29kmh (actual measurement). In 2008, the new Hayabusa, whose speed limiter was removed, scored 333.95kmh (actual measurement), although it was an unofficial record. It is well known that Hayabusa has been authorized by the Guinness World Records as the fastest commercially sold mass-produced motorcycle.

Manufacturers' Race to Develop the Next "World's Fastest"

ZZR1400 (ZX-14R) was the motorcycle that Kawasaki had developed to defeat the Hayabusa. This Kawasaki ZZR series and Suzuki Hayabusa had been involved in an intense competition to win the title of the "world's fastest" since then.

Yet, last year, many of the Hayabusa fans have heaved an heavy sigh at the sight of the sensational emersion of the Kawasaki H2R/H2 with a super charger. The glory of the Hayabusa had become to fade away.
Lately, this disheartenment had been restored by the rumor of the debut of the turbocharged Hayabusa. It wasn't only the fans but all the others got excited once they heard this story. Everyone, of course, are expecting the "world's fastest" motorcycle.

There are no domestic or overseas official news release nor any reliable information leakage on this matter that confirms this rumor. But you see; "Where there's smoke, there's fire." And so I decided to look for a story, though it may be my wishful thinking.

This article estimates the arrival of a 1400cc turbo model. It raises a bold prediction that this powerful turbocharge Hayabusa may deliver as much as 500 horsepower, considering the fact that supercharged H2R produces 300 horsepower.

This article estimates the arrival of a 1500 turbo model.

This article runs a design sketch. It says that Suzuki is already well underway with the development of the new Hayabusa, yet it is unlikely that the new Hayabusa will receive the turbo treatment.

In this way, the world of internet provide all sorts of conflicting reports about this matter. But to put it the other way around, it shows the expectation degree of the fans all over the world for the next Hayabusa model.

Suzuki's Sufficient Achievements on Turbo Engine

Still, the rumor of the turbocharged Hayabusa is not baseless.
As it was introduced in this Webike News previously, the "Recursion" which Suzuki submitted as its sample product at the "43rd Tokyo Motor Show 2013" attracted attention of the public for being a "turbocharged motorcycle".

It was powered by a intercooler turbocharged 588cc water-cooled parallel twin engine, which made 100 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 10.2kgm of maximum torque at 4,500 rpm. By downsizing its engine displacement volume, its fuel efficiency was raised by 50% compared to its conventional type engines.

After all, "Recursion" was a motorcycle that placed emphasis on its fuel efficiency and environmental performance. Yet, you should not overlook that fact that it also had 30% more power than other motorcycles of the same engine displacement volume.

The news of commercializing the "Recursion" had ceased. Yet taking into account of the achievements of Suzuki as an automobile manufacturer, they surely have the ability to develop a turbocharged engine.

Various Customized Turbocharged Hayabusa Tells Its Real Power

Then what would be the turbocharged Hayabusa look like when it actually emerges? Well, I assume that everyone would like to know the answer. Now, I would like to introduce one simulation movie that showed how it was going to be like.

The video unveiling the customized 2014 Hayabusa, was shown on YouTube. It was a record breaking turbocharged Hayabusa, remodeled by an overseas customization builder.

It was somewhat reminiscent of a jet fighter that challenged for the flying speed record. It was such a good looking motorcycle that took one back in the good old days. An extra large turbocharger was set inside the specially prepared front cowl, and it was extremely powerful.

The video showed the process of the turbocharger assembly, the bench test, and its squeaking high frequency inhaling sound of the turbo engine.

They seemed to have already achieved 226 mph (approximately 357kmh), and are aiming at 300mph (approximately 480kmh) at present. It surely does indicate the potential ability of its base motorcycle, Hayabusa.

The Compound Turbo Hayabusa 2016 Introduction.

Speaking of maximum speed record, as we have already introduced in the past Webike news, an American motorcycle racer, Bill Warner, had set a new world motorcycle land speed record of 502.02 kmh on a turbocharged Hayabusa in 2012.

Another old story. A 499bhp turbocharged Hayabusa appeared in the popular movie, Ghost Rider, achieving the speed of 354kmh. In spite of the fact that its illegal ride scene on public roads created a controversy, everyone was aghast at the wheelie performance it showed from over 300kmh.

Which motorcycle is going to win the title of the world's fastest? What will the next Hayabusa look like?

And then, is the next Hayabusa going to be a turbocharged motorcycle or not? That question, unfortunately, cannot be answered now. But there is one thing for sure. It is definitely going to aim to regain the title of the "world's fastest".

The history tells us that SUZUKI and KAWASAKI have been facing in real earnest to win the No.1 title of the speed competition. I would be paying attention to the news of the next Hayabusa.
