Introducing a Full-Scale Sport Motorcycle to the ASEAN Region

The GSX-R150 and GSX-S150 are for the ASEAN region. They will be brought to the market to meet the public growing demand for sport motorcycles with high tastefulness, a trend that has been backed up by the popularity of motorsport in the ASEAN countries.
Suzuki has been exporting completed motorcycles from Japan, such as the Hayabusa. However, to cope with wide range of user requests, they've decided to introduce sportbikes of smaller displacement volume as their step-up models to reinforce the brand image.
Suzuki will launch the sales of these two models for the Indonesian market in early 2017, and will eventually expand the sales area to other ASEAN countries.

Adopts DOHC engine and electronic control

Both GSX-R150 and GSX-S150 will mount the same water-cooled single cylinder DOHC 4-valve 147.3cc engine on their light and compact bodies. They feature the keyless ignition system (only for the upper grade models) and the Suzuki Easy Start System, in which the rider can start the engine instantly without pressing the start switch button continuously.

GSX-R150 is positioned as the new model of the supersport GSX-R series, and GSX-S150 is positioned as the new model of the sport naked GSX-S series.
Judging from the pictures released by Suzuki, the basic structure, such as their frames and their suspensions or wheels, are common. Exterior parts like the cowls or their handlebar design seems to differ.

Fabricated for Race Use

In terms of their specification, according to the latest overseas news source that covered the show, the maximum output will be 14.1kw(19.17PS)/11,000rpm, and the maximum torque value will be 13.9Nm/8,500rp. High output and rapid rotation, indeed. They also feature full-scale equipment such as the fuel injection, 6-speed transmission, LED headlight, full digital LCD meter and so on.
They will probably travel in a swift manner, thanks to their light (GSX-R150: 126kg, GSX-S150: 127kg) vehicle bodies and short wheelbases.

The GSX-R125 for the European and North American market, which was unveiled at the INTERMOT, has already been furnishing the conversation of motorcycle fans. And now, this R150, the series model of the R125 with an upgraded engine, is no doubt focusing on its use in the 150cc class race; the race that is so popular in Asian countries.
In other words, these new motorcycles are designed to provide the Asian motorsport fans with true ride performance and appealing equipment to satisfy their selective requirements.

The sales launch of these GSX-R150 and GSX-S150 for the Japanese market is yet to be decided. I look forward to receiving a good news!
