Columns

In addition to the introduction of the basic specifications and equipment of the motorcycles, we will also provide you with a test ride report by comparing the features of each model, the ride on the mini-track, and the test ride conditions. I will present the "entry-level street motorcycle" and compare the YAMAHA MT-25 and HONDA CB250R.*1

*1 MT-25/CB250R differs from MT-03 in frame and chassis structure. The CB300R is almost the same, only the engine displacement is different to comply with the Japanese classification system.

Test Model ① YAMAHA MT-25

MT-25 is a model specially launched for Japan (the MT-03 with a slightly larger displacement in other regions), and is also regarded as a street motorcycle version of the full-cover sports motorcycle YZF-R25, equipped with displacement The 249cc water-cooled four-stroke DOHC 4-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine was first introduced in 2015.

MT-25/MT-03 has undergone a major facelift last year (2020). Not only does it use an inverted front fork, LED headlights, and hazard warning lights, but also the headlights have undergone major changes. However, the headlights nicknamed "mouthball" have different styling preferences. However, after the launch of the facelift, the medieval price of the old MT-25 is also more approachable.

Test Model ② HONDA CB250R

The current CB250R was first released in May 2018. The 249cc water-cooled four-stroke DOHC 4-valve single-cylinder engine inherited from the CB250F is a single-cylinder street motorcycle with powerful torque.

Although the engine is from the CB250F, the original tires of the CB250R are radial tires, and the front fork also adopts an inverted structure. The specifications have been improved. When it was launched, there were two versions, including standard ABS and no ABS. However, after the 2019-style facelift, all ABS are standard, and the rear suspension structure has been improved, which not only reduces the height of the seat cushion by 5mm, but also optimizes the control.

As for the CB300R, which was first unveiled at the Milan Auto Show in 2017 with the CB1000R, after several years of sales, the body structure and equipment have not changed.
