Introducing the custom motorcycle that has been submitted to the Webike Community "MOTO HACK Custom Motorcycle Contest" campaign!
Meet the custom motorcycle of SHOGO who rides R1-Z.
Motorcycle and self-introduction
[Self-introduction]
MT50⇒first-generation RZ250R⇒RG250γIII(W).W.)⇒RZ250⇒Long-term suspension due to theft⇒RZ250(4U0 spec)⇒Current vehicle
I'm more of a two-stroke fan than a motorcycle enthusiast.

Customization of the particulars
[Directionality]
This custom looks normal or lightly tuned at first glance.
[Points that I think are cool]
The design has an elegant feel typical of Yamaha.
[Points of change in performance]
There are many things, but it's the engine. The obvious one is the brake. The interesting thing is OSR-CDI.
Custom Points
Front Brake Area
The concept is to reduce weight and simplify the structure for ease of maintenance and economy. Single TZR (1KT) size 320mm rotors. The pins of the brembo and discs are color-coded.
Braking power is also better than the old stock one, but it feels much more powerful.
Sunstar Premium Racing Disc Rotors
Brembo Casting Caliper
Private Label Caliper Support
AC Performance Line Brake Hoses
Left side of front wheel
A rebuilt cover for the RZ250 is installed. The disc hole on the left side of the wheel fits perfectly for the early RZ.
Front Suspension & Steering Wheel
Overhauled with Hyper Pro springs and oil. It's not hard, but it looks more treadable.
Clip-on handlebars is now a pipe handlebar, considering its age. I tried a lot of things and settled on the active medium, but I think it could be a little narrower and lower.
The top bridge is made by N Project, which was also used in the early RZ. The rigidity is fine, but the angularity is a little unsatisfactory in terms of design.

Hi-slotting to pull the TMX30.
The active Type II is cooler, but I got fed up with the poor serviceability of the 40mm holder when I put it in, so I bought a Type III.
The Webike mode switch is good in both design and width. However, on the R1-Z, it was necessary to reverse the RUN/KILL wiring.
I wanted the levers to be Kawasaki adjustable, so I started out with a master cylinder for the Zephyr 750. Changed to 14mm DAEG to accommodate the single-headed design.

A Kawasaki lever gives you more options for aftermarket parts. I ended up going with SSK's retractable levers.
However, the stock cable is not long enough for the Kawasaki holder. The cable for RZRR worked fine.

Around the engine
The engine was converted to a RZR with mounting modifications.

Power Filter Specifications
There is plenty of low-end torque and peak power, but there is no sense of agility. I think a well-maintained stock 4L3 is the most fun for an RZ series engine.
Chamber
KP's one-off plating chamber. It shines if you polish it, and there is almost no plating peeling or rusting. It's a great piece of work with the stock mount and mounting accuracy. I'm afraid of falling over because it's a valuable item I'll never get again.
Electrical system
OSR-CDI, the savior of the Yamaha 2-stroke engine It was given to me in kit form, but it was hard to solder. The ignition time and VPVS opening can be changed freely and is fun. It's performing with no trouble, but it's also performing with the original CDI on board, just in case.
Utani SP-II Power Coil Kit
I'm not sure how effective this kit is since it was installed when I bought it. There is a rumor that it is incompatible with the OSR-CDI, so I'm considering returning it to stock.
Rear swingarm
For TZR(1KT) I found the author's blog and asked him to modify it.
- Suspension relief machining and reinforcement.
- Newly installed suspension links after cutting.
- Turnbuckle type link adjustment.
The link length can be easily adjusted with the turnbuckle (although the lever ratio will change), allowing for simple ride height adjustment. The motorcycle was installed with a slightly raised butt.
The sprocket is an ISA in a soothing shade.
I chose EK's red chain to match the body color.
EK QX ring seal chain 520SRX2
What I found out after replacing them. Supposedly the old swingarm was bent to the left, apparently. It has a simple look that is not only lightweight but also completely comfortable. I'm also thankful that the swingarm construction has been simplified so that the swingarm can be removed without having to cut the chain or remove the caliper banjo.
Rear Suspension
I bought new factory springs and installed the Hyperpro rear springs with Active's spring replacement service. It's more supple but also more solid.
Lower part of the suspension linkage
The sturdy turnbuckle and the newly installed link attachment on the swingarm are visible.
Rear Brake
- Brembo New Brake Caliper
- Private Brand Caliper Support
- Swage line・easy order brake hose
The rear is also crabbed in the same color as the front. Since the banjo is installed in a different direction, the hose used on the stock is not available. The easy-order type sold separately is convenient in such cases. I was able to mount it on a 425mm hose with straight banjos on both sides with no problem.
Customization that I want to do in the future
I got it with an engine conversion and finished the suspension and brake system.
The engine itself is fine, but I feel the potential of the engine and the chamber has not been reached, so from now on, I need to do some fine-tuning, mainly setting up.
In addition, I've got a white exterior set that I'm going to enjoy dressing up as a doll.
I just can't find a mirror that I'm comfortable with. I bought about 5 of them, but I couldn't adjust the angle well and the design didn't feel right. The road to finding the best mirror continues.
