Model: HONDA Monkey-R
Overview
The blue metallic and white coloring creates a fresh look. Although it is standard practice to use 12-inch wheels on a heavily customized Monkey R, the 10-inch wheels are used to maintain the cute appearance of the Monkey R. The owner's Ducati Monster has the same coloring as the other Ducati Monster, which is also cute. The coloring is the same as that of the owner's DUCATI Monster, which is also adorable.
Base Model Description
The Monkey-R was introduced in 1987. It featured a twin-tube frame, front disc brake, hydraulically dampened telescopic fork, square-section swingarm and single shock, lightweight Comstar wheels with aluminum alloy spokes, and tubeless tires. The engine was a 4-stroke, single-cylinder OHC engine that had undergone a lot of refinement and special tuning, resulting in a 4.5ps output compared to the 3.1ps of the standard Monkey, and a performance that put it in a class of its own. One might imagine that the Monkey-R would have been very popular, but in fact, the Monkey-R did not sell at all, and even though it was not a limited edition model, it became one of the most popular Monkeys in the world.
Owner Interview: from "Webike User"
I got this bike in 1990 and it is one of the oldest bikes I own. I bought it from a used bike store I happened to visit that had a used bike. I chose this vehicle because the chassis is solid, with a steel twin tube frame and disc brakes, and I thought it would be just right for customization. I kept the cuteness of the Monkey-R and added a lot of luxurious parts. It is painted in the same original color as my DUCATI Monster S4. Many of the parts were purchased at that time, so many of them may be out of date.
Custom Details
Bodyworks
The tank, wheels, and other parts are stock parts in order to retain the Monkey-R style. However, a DUCATI Monster-style seat cover (Jet Stream) and carbon seat side covers (DUCATI genuine) are installed to give the bike a Mini Monster look.
For the headlight, SP TAKEGAWA Multi Reflector Headlight is installed, but the headlight bracket is made of OEM CB400SF parts to add a subtle point.

Engine
The engine is a complete SP Takegawa 106-cylinder spur head engine kit, which was the best in the 1990s, and a Daytona dry clutch kit has been installed to give it a DUCATI-like appearance. The Takegawa oil cooler is installed, but it is located under the seat instead of around the front of the car, which gives the impression that no oil cooler is installed. According to the owner, there is an unexpected airflow under the seat, and the engine temperature does not rise so much. That's what I'm talking about. The flywheel is instrumented and contributes to response improvement.
