SANCTUARY's GPZ900R
Sanctuary's 17-inch Complete Custom Ninja(GPZ900R), is a motorcycle Sanctuary Yokohama-Yamato worked on as an RCM Ninja Sport Package TYPE-R. It was not built as a complete custom all at once, but became a complete RCM after being worked on step by step! According to Mr. Kawanami of Sanctuary Yokohama-Yamato, "This time, we updated the exterior and made other minor changes." Many of the owners who use Sanctuary Yokohama-Yamato have a long relationship with their motorcycles, and many of them have gone on to fully customize their bikes in stages. This is likely a result of Mr. Kawanami's deep understanding of each motorcycle's intricacies and his proactive approach to working closely with owners to craft their motorcycles according to their vision.
Certainly, being part of the Sanctuary group provides the advantage of sharing customization expertise on package menus, motorcycle specifications, and planned work. But the flexibility of each store in the Sanctuary Group is also noteworthy. In this case, this "flexibility" is evident in the engine. The 1050cc specification with Wiseco Φ78mm pistons may seem quite aggressive for an RCM Ninja based on the Ninja stock head with a sports package. "It is equipped with a complete engine by Trading Garage Nakagawa," says Mr. Kawanami. "It is a fully overhauled and tuned-up menu, perfectly suited for RCM. When you ride it, you feel its power, yet it's not overly powerful or harsh, which makes it quite appealing." This outcome was possible because he could envision the entire process step by step, allowing for partial customization with a flexible mindset. The hybrid design, incorporating a complete external engine where an in-house engine would have sufficed, brings a fresh perspective and unique features to the motorcycle, further enhancing its appeal.
Electrical
The paint job is done by "Okushin," who have arranged the stock lines and colors. The windshield is a Nitro Racing clear type.
A YOSHIMURA digital multimeter has been incorporated into the stock gauges. The handlebar has been changed from clip-ons to an Active Fanatic handlebar, and Brembo RCS master cylinders have been installed on both sides. Additionally, a Φ43 billet aluminum sculpture stem kit has been added to the steering stem.
Bodyworks
The seat is a Spec Engineering Riding Seat, and a PMC fender eliminator kit has been installed underneath to provide a clean and tidy finish to the tail section.
Engine
The engine was commissioned to TG Nakagawa as a complete build, and is a 1050cc spec with weight-matched Wiseco Φ78mm forged pistons, connecting rods, and a dynamically balanced GPZ900R crankshaft. The camshafts are for a reverse engine, the intake valves are new, the exhaust valves have new guides, and the valves are polished. This is an interesting example of a complete custom RCM that uses a package that is highly recommended by TG Nakagawa.
Intake & Exhaust
The carburetor used is the TMR-MJN Φ36mm, and the ignition system is the AS Uotani SP2 Full Power Kit. As for the exhaust system, it consists of a Nitro Racing Titanium 4-1 exhaust paired with a Nitro Racing Titanium Straight V-3 silencer.
Chassis
The rearsets are made by Nitro Racing and are connected to the Down Tube Kit Type 3 by a Nitro Racing TT adapter to create a double cradle-style. The frame itself was also modified to have an inline drive chain, which is blasted, and powder coated.
The front forks are assembled with Ohlins RWU using the Noblest Ohlins ExM package. This package also includes the front fenders and caliper supports. The front brakes are Brembo CNC Racing Axial 4P calipers and Sunstar RCM Premium Racing Front Brake discs.
The rear brake includes a GALE SPEED master cylinder, a Brembo CNC Racing 2P caliper, and a Sunstar Premium Racing Rear Brake Disc.
It features a Sculpture wide swingarm, exclusively designed for 17-inch wheels, and it is equipped with an Ohlins rear shock absorber. The wheels are O-Z Racing forged aluminum Piega wheels, with sizes of 3.50-17 for the front and 5.50-17 for the rear. The drive chain used is a narrow body type EK530RCM, designed to avoid interference with various components.
